All of the beads and pendants in this group of twelve (LLL757R2N3A, 838M, 842C, 862, 863, 921, 962, 1138-1140, 1208D and 1209B) were found in West Mexico in the mid-20th century by the late Lynn Langdon. Included in the group are beads and spindle whorls of various sizes, shapes, and decor made of stone, ceramic and shell. Condition ranges from fairly good to excellent. This 3” tall ceramic vessel (BWO4) is in the form of a coiled snake and poised in a position to strike! In only fairly good condition with close to 50% of its original black burnished surface eroded and two small holes in its side just below the rim, the exposed and somewhat punky red clay, when handled can produce small specks of loose paint and sandy grit. This oddly shaped Pre-Columbian bird’s head pendant (LLL732R2N2B), made from a creamy-gray colored stone and with a crescent groove ground into its basal edge, may have held a metal or obsidian blade in the groove. Not a common style, and in overall very good condition, it measures 1 3/8” from tip to tip. Completely perforated for suspension at one end, there is an uncompleted hole at the other.
