$375 SALE PRICE

This is an old hand-painted pottery fox mask that is mounted on a carved walnut trophy mount. The fox is probably from the early 1900's and the plaque is a Black Forest carving from the mid 1800's. Even though their ages differ they work great together! Size is 9" by almost 6". Originally $575.00

Here is a very unusual little brass plaque featuring a highly detailed horse racing image in relief. It dates to the early 1900's, is about 3.25 X 1.75 inches, and is most likely Austrian or German in origin. It displays on its own small brass easel which measures about 4.5 inches tall- a perfect little accent piece for a shelf or desktop.

This is an antique vase, circa 1920, that is around 7 inches tall. It is made of black glass and has a silver image of a polo player. This is the most difficult item I've ever had to photograph, so please excuse my pictures- they do not do this item justice! Condition is excellent with no chips or cracks, only some loss of the silver overlaid image which has probably been caused by polishing to remove tarnish.

This is a horse racing image on a porcelain lid by Prattware. These underglazed printed lids were produced in the Staffordshire region and provide a fascinating pictorial study of Victorian social history. This one dates to the latter 1800's and is in excellent condition with age related crazing being the only issue. The scene is a flat turf race in England complete with cheering crowds and tents, which give it a carnival atmosphere, as race days often were. The frame is really special. ...click for details

How cute and unusual! A small cylinder (about 2.5 inches long), propped up by a horseshoe holds little hors d'ouevres pics in the shape of riding crops. So detailed, down to the staghorn handles! We haven't polished this lately (it has been packed away for a long time), but it should clean up beautifully. What a darling gift to a horse person this Christmas! Originally $325

This is a rare bronze plaque by the listed American sculptor Frederick "Fritz" Triebel (1865-1944) commemorating the sexcentenary anniversary death of Dante, in 1921. It is very heavy and housed in a thick 7 by 10 inch walnut frame. The size of the bronze plaque is 4 by 7 inches. This would be a fine bronze sculpture to display in a library or to give as a gift to a bibliophile. Here is the inscription on the plaque: ...click for details

This is a majolica humidor from England, dating to the late 1800's. The jockey's cap forms the lid, which is hollow, and has an opening to hold a damp sponge, which supplies moisture to the tobacco. There are no markings other than a number, 3861, which appears under the lid and on the back of the collar. Condition is excellent with just two very minor chips under the brim of the cap, visible in one photo and not visible when the humidor is assembled. There is also a small bit of loss to ...click for details

An elegant circa 1920 inkwell made of polished agate with gilded brass fittings. The stand of the inkwell is a remarkable anatomical model of a horse hoof fitted with an incredibly detailed shoe. The shoe is decorated with crossed riding crops. The jockey cap, which forms the lid of the well, is so detailed that you can actually count the stitches on the bill. This piece is in excellent condition except for one chip on the back of the cap, right above the hinge. The size is almost 6" l ...click for details

An interesting Victorian game entitled "Ascot- The New Racing Game"! It is in a sturdy old oak case that measures 13" long, 4.5" tall, and 7" deep. Amazingly, it has all of its original game pieces which consist of 8 painted lead horses and jockeys. They are in excellent original condition, other than paint loss; only one has lost a leg. It also comes with a large number of dyed wood discs the purpose of which, we have no idea. In fact, we have no idea how this ga ...click for details
