This is a handsome little papier mache box that I believe is called a 'pencil box'. It features a wonderful polo scene on the hinged lid. It dates to the early 1900's and measures 9" long, almost 2.5" wide, and a bit over 1 inch deep. Good condition with just some scratches and rubbed areas- no breaks or cracks. A handy little desktop ornament for the polo fan. Original price was $160.

This is a superb little warm red tole box with graceful lines and painted flowers on the lid. It is highlighted in gold paint and has delicately painted scroll decorations in the corners. This box comes from France and dates to the latter 1800's. It is 7.75 inches long, 3 inches deep, and almost 2.25 inches tall. Condition is good, with a few spots where the paint has chipped off. Also, there is lots of crazing on the original surface but the hinges are sturdy and the lid closes tightly. ...click for details

A small lacquered 19th century papier mache box with an applied image of a jockey on his race horse. This may be a snuff box although it is rather large for that purpose. It measures about 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide, dates to the latter 1800's and is in good condition. The surface has dulled somewhat and does have some scratches and dents. The hinge works well and closes correctly. There is some loss to the image as you can see from the photos. Still a very nice little box for t ...click for details

This is a very good looking, sturdy little photo frame from the early 1900's. It has a distinctive 'Arts and Crafts' era look about it. Made entirely of copper and brass, the craftsmanship is outstanding- this little frame was built to last! Condition is also very good with just some minor scratches to the surfact. The overall size is around 4.5 X 4 inches. This would be an excellent gift for a horse person! Originally $300.00

Here is an unusual example of equine taxidermy and a fabulous desktop antique for the horsey person- a hoof lidded box. This rare item is from England, circa mid 1800's. It has a hand-crafted wood hinged lid that opens, revealing a small compartment, probably intended to be a stamp box, but useful for holding any small item. The hinged lid is straight, tight, and very well constructed, closing securely. The top has two nicely painted equestrian images- a fox hunter and a mounted jockey. ...click for details

Here is an exquisite mahogany period Georgian knife box from England. It was converted to a stationary box long ago. It has a lovely inlaid star on the inside of the lid and its original ivory escutcheon. Decorative brass or bronze feet were also added at some point in the past. This would look so lovely on a desk, holding stationary and papers, and is just as attractive open as it is closed. A beautiful way to keep your bills and letters organized! This box stands almost 15 inches tall, a ...click for details
