This is an outstanding sterling stick pin, or lapel pin with a very fine enameled portrait of a Staffordshire terrier, or similar breed. He has closely cropped ears and wears a heavy studded collar. This noble looking dog is enameled on a brilliant green guilloche ground. This back of the charm is marked sterling and the condition is close to perfect with just lots of tarnish that I chose not to clean off. We have a handsome old portrait of a fox hound enameled on a sterling silver disc that serves as a stick, or lapel, pin. This dates to the late 1800's and is most likely from England. Miniature enamels are more and more rare, and highly collectable. This one measures about 11/16 of an inch wide and the whole pin is a bit over 2 inches long.
