$1,850 SALE PRICE

We have a very large oil painting of a fox hunt, taking place in a wooded landscape. Painted on a lacquered oval papier-mache plaque that measures 25 X 19 inches, it comes from England and dates to circa early to mid-1800s. On the bottom side there is an impressed name of Clay/London, which stands for Henry Clay (d. 1812), who described himself on his trade card as 'Japanner in ordinary to his Majesty and to his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales'. Japanning refers to the process of ...click for details

$950 SALE PRICE

This is a very handsome, well rendered oil on canvas of a pair of terriers- a Jack Russell and an Irish terrier. It is not signed, but was attributed to the very famous Scottish animal artist Colin Graeme Roe (1855-1910), who was known for painting dogs and horses. His auction records run into the thousands, but since this is unsigned, and has a spot of poor restoration, this painting is on sale for much less. It is in a frame made of new burled walnut moulding that measures 16 X 14 inches. ...click for details

$495 SALE PRICE

A lovely oil on linen portrait of a cute brown terrier in an outdoor background. Signed and dated 1909. Good condition with just a few bubbles where the linen/canvas separated slightly from the backing. This was, no doubt, someone's pet, and this portrait is very well accomplished. Housed in a handsome Victorian frame with incised decoration and a gilt liner. The frame measures 13.25 X 15.25. Original price was $785.

$2,300 SALE PRICE

Magnificent, huge oil painting of a mother fox bringing dinner, a goose, to her hungry fox cubs. It is signed by the artist, J. T. Wortendyke, who used 'pointillism' to create the picture. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism. This painting was restored and relined at some point, so the canvas is in very good, sturdy cond ...click for details

We have a very early, well-executed still life featuring dead game birds. This painting is French and dates to the late 1800's. Condition is fair with some loss of paint, all over surface crazing, and restored puncture wounds. The canvas had come off of the original stretcher so it was trimmed and attached to a new stretcher. It is housed in a folksy antique oak frame that measures 14 X 22.5. Original price was $1,175.

Lots of action in this oil painting from England, or maybe a better word is 'chaos'! This is an oil painted on paper that was affixed to a wood panel. It dates to the mid 1800's and is signed by Alken. We don't believe this is an original Alken painting, but probably done by one of his followers. There is a provenance attached verso. It is in its original inscribed, gilt, slip frame which measures 12.75 X 8.5 inches. The board was broken into 2 pieces at some point and has ...click for details

Old newspaper covers the backs of the pieces, which are housed in gorgeous birdseye maple frames, also from the 1800's, that measure around 8.5 X 7 inches.
