We have a charming of oil painting of a springer spaniel holding a gamebird, perhaps a snipe. It is painting on a shallow round bowl made of papier mache that measures 14 inches in diameter, and dates to the late 1800's. Condition is okay, with all-over crazing, and some chipping and flaking of the paint, especially at the edges. A large, impressive oil on composite board by listed American artist Francis Kughler (1901-1970). He was born and raised in N.Y.C. and painted many scenes from that area. This is inside an actual stable in the Bronx- a groom and drought horses from one of the last functioning city stables in existence- Pelham Stables- painted some time in the mid 1900's.
