We have a very good looking, rustic, carved inkwell, in the Black Forest style, of a fox sitting on what appears to be either a rock or a log. The inkwell sits in a tree stump and a hollowed-out fallen log serves as a pen tray. Very clever! This dates to the mid to late 1800's and the carving is quite intricate. Condition is very good with just one missing ear tip on the fox and an inexplicable hole in the bottom of the glass inkwell. Actually this hole is so smooth and perfectly round ...click for details
