Here is a "special issue" for the 100th running of the Kentucky Derby. It was produced by 'The Courier-Journal & Times' on April 28, 1974. Contains articles, photographs, and some wonderful old advertisements, especially the big horse farm ads- Calumet, Spendthrift, Claiborne, and C. V. Whitney are all represented. Condition is very good with just some bent and worn edges and corners. This highly collectable bit of Kentucky Derby history measures a generous 13 X 10.5 i ...click for details

This is a map entitled "Places of Meeting of the Hoar Cross Hunt". It is a lovely old original map with hand tinting on age toned paper and prominent fold lines. According to my research this map was created by John Dower circa 1843. The area encompasses Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire counties. It is housed in a period birdseye maple frame that measures 17.5 X 15.5 inches. The actual map measures around 9 X 7 inches. Here is some history of the Hoar Cross Hunt (t ...click for details

A rare and interesting Victorian era English page turner made of wood. This piece was an advertisement 'give away' item for the Eastern Telegraph Company, Ltd. of London. It features a map on both sides of the blade, and an 1899 calendar, with 6 months displayed on each side of the handle. So unusual! This was probably a premium gift item given to the company's customers. It measures 13.25 inches long and condition is very good considering the age and composition. The edge is q ...click for details

A lovely sepia portrait photograph of "Dutchess" in a traditional, quaint, English stable yard. This photo dates to the early 1900's and was placed on an ornate, hand-decorated title mat, telling us that Dutchess was a very special mare. The frame, measuring 9 X 11 inches, is not old.

Here is a framed antique photo of a polo team, posed around a magnificent trophy, which someone may recognize. The thatched roof may indicate an Asian location, perhaps India, where many Brits formed polo teams during the days of the British Raj. The size of this framed piece is 15 X 12 inches. A nice looking bit of historic polo memorabilia!
