$695

We have a set of three landscape paintings by the same artist and this is the second of these paintings. They are oil on canvas scenes from the Scottish Highlands and date to the Victorian era. They are all signed by D. Hicks. The frames were made recently and measure 20 X 14.5 inches. Condition is generally good with general surface crazing and some flaking and loss of paint, which I have tried to show in the photos. A lovely set of warm landscape scenes!

$135 SALE PRICE

A charming porcelain figure of what I believe is a Westie dog, holding an open purse in its mouth. This is not marked but is most likely either Austrian or perhaps German and dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's. Condition is good with no chips, breaks, or cracks. One of the ears appears to have had a professional restoration. There are numerous pits and rubs to the glazed porcelain finish which denotes the age of this piece. It measures almost 6 inches tall and about 5 inches ...click for details

$350 SALE PRICE

A large, well-modeled bronze poodle dating to the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This poodle is very heavy and substantial, measuring around 3 inches tall and 4.5 inches long. He is in good condition and retains his original glass eyes. It looks like his tail may have broken off, but on close inspection I believe the tail was made this way. It is very smooth and rounded, as though polished. A nice gift for a poodle lover or a bronze collector. Original price was $495.

We have a charming of oil painting of a springer spaniel holding a gamebird, perhaps a snipe. It is painting on a shallow round bowl made of papier mache that measures 14 inches in diameter, and dates to the late 1800's. Condition is okay, with all-over crazing, and some chipping and flaking of the paint, especially at the edges. Some of the edges are quite frayed, which is expected considering the age and the fact that the bowl is made of papier mache. Nonetheless this is a wonderful ol ...click for details

$175

A rare and interesting Victorian era English page turner made of wood. This piece was an advertisement 'give away' item for the Eastern Telegraph Company, Ltd. of London. It features a map on both sides of the blade, and an 1899 calendar, with 6 months displayed on each side of the handle. So unusual! This was probably a premium gift item given to the company's customers. It measures 13.25 inches long and condition is very good considering the age and composition. The edge is q ...click for details

A very nice old hand-tinted engraving entitled "The Portraiture of Bay Bolton" with an extensive description and biography. The entire size of the framed piece is 9.75 X 13 inches. It is in its original frame which has quite a few bumps and chips to the gilding, which is expected. The print itself is in good condition with only some age toning and light soiling and foxing. An attractive piece for a racing history enthusiast. Original price was $285.

A very nice, early to mid 19th century Staffordshire piece featuring a couple of spaniels. This was an inkwell/inkstand/quill holder and probably dates to circa early 1800's. Condition is good with some very old chips around the base. Also a hairline crack on the larger dog's back and the very faint remains of a gilt border which has completely worn away. Measure 5 inches long and 5 inches tall. Nice piece for a collector.

There is so much going on with this unusual old brooch. The main pin is, I believe, gilded brass and consists of two mounted racehorses running along the track rail or fence line. Dangling from three hooks is a gilded watch fob photo locket that consists of polished agate on one side that rotates around to polished black onyx with an inlaid enamel horseshoe decoration. The locket opens to hold two photos. Complicated? Yes, but so rare and neat looking! The brooch is a bit over 2.75 inches ...click for details

Here is a unique, elaborately detailed sterling silver pin featuring a terrier and a riding crop. As you can see from the close-up photos, there is a huge amount of detail on this piece. It is marked sterling and has red enamel detailing on the dog collar and his tongue. The terrier head is fastened to a horseshoe with attaches to a riding crop by a belt or stirrup leather. Very clever! It is about 2.25" long and the crop is about 1.75" wide. Original price was $150.
