Cute pair of old salt and pepper shakers in the shape of a horse head. These are a white metal and were silver plated at one time. They also had something painted on them, but most of the paint and silver have worn off. I have not attempted to clean or polish them- they are exactly as found, with their original corks. They and heavy little things and measure around 2.5 inches tall. These will clean up nicely!

This is such a sweet touching painting. It depicts an old man and his faithful dog. He wears the tartan garments of a 19th century Scotsman and appears to be sitting in a tavern with his collie, sharing a tender moment. The painting is an oil on canvas and dates to the mid-late 1800's. Condition is fair with lots of age crazing of the paint surface, and some waviness of the canvas. It is in a arch-shaped walnut frame from the same period that measures 18.5 X 18 inches.

This is a portrait, painted in watercolor and perhaps pastel, dating to the 1940's. It is a well executed figural study that depicts a man atop his hunter. This comes from England and was torn from an artist sketch book, hence the ragged edges. The frame is much older, dating to the mid 19th century, and measures 15 X 11.75 inches. Original price was $595.

This is the cutest little snuff box from England, dating back to the 1830-1850 period. It has a humorous transfer scene on the lid showing a dog- it could be a Scottish terrier or a cairn terrier. It is of ebonised, lacquered papier mache and still has some snuff remnants inside. Condition is very good considering the age. The hinge is in sound working condition and the lid closes nicely. There are numerous surface scratches, including some to the image, which are clearly visible in the ph ...click for details

We have an old cigarette case with an outstanding enameled horse portrait. This dates to the very early 1900's and is marked "German Silver". We have not attempted to clean or polish this case in any way, so it is quite dark with tarnish. It has numerous scratches and small dings, but the enamel itself is in remarkably good condition with just a few chips. Inside, the spring activated arms, which would hold the cigarettes, are present, but not operable, although they could be r ...click for details
