| An exquisite little glass vanity jar with a sterling silver lid covered in shagreen, or sharkskin (also called galuchat). The lid was goldwashed or gilded and is hallmarked, as shown in the photos, to 1905 London, maker unknown. Condition of the glass is good with some surface scratches and small chips, mainly along the bottom rim. Most of the gilding has worn alway from the silver, which we didn't attempt to polish or clean. The size of this little gem is a bit over 3" in diameter (the lid) and almost 2.5" tall. | ||
