| This is a stunning little Italian chest or commode, warmly painted in the Venetian style, dating to the late 1800's or perhaps the early 1900's. The painted surface retains its original rich patina and does have a great many age appropriate crazing, chips, and scratches. The left handle on the bottom drawer is broken, which is visible in the pictures, but we do have the broken piece and it can be easily restored. The original paper liner is still present inside both drawers and is in fair condition. It is marked 'made in Italy' on the back. The size is 29 inches tall, 27.5 inches wide and 14.5 inches deep. This is an exquisite little piece that is a nice departure from the usual pastel painted Venetian chests. | ||
