An exceptional Dhyangro handle (the handle of shamanic drum). An important Nuo Mask figuring likely a lawyer or an official, very old polychromia with important lack, this mask was probably covered with lac as some large areas can still be seen below the noose and on the ears. Long horse tail hairs possibly added or renewed more recently .
Obvious signs of great age at least 150 y, light wood as usual for a chinese old mask, but still good condition. the mask is presented on an iron stand

A very fine Ghurra showing a beautiful stylized house on his top , the whole the piece is nicely carved and shows thick encrusted milky and dusty patina indicating a very great age likely much over 50 years and possibly close to 100 years . This ghurra is coming from Rukkum district. Height 7 2/3 inches (20 cm), wide 3 1/3 inches 8 cm. The piece is nicely mounted on an iron stand.

This mask figures a simple realistic human face , possibly the deity Tu di po, . A very simple but very old too likely over 150 year, the mask is carved in soft wood, it has probably been never painted except few lines and thus it appears under it very original aspect of oxidized wood. Considering it age, more likely over 100 years, this mask is in a very good condition, height : 7 1/2 inches . the piece is mounted on an iron stand

Salt box, used mainly during wedding ceremonies, among Tharu tribes in the Terai district (south of Nepal). The box is made of heavy hard strong wood, possibly teak wood. The painting of this mask is lacking in large areas indicating that this mask has never been repainted. This a very a typical mask from the minorities of the district of Hunan in the south of China, probably from Li or Miao tribes. The mask represents the deity Tou di Gong, an earth protector venerated by villagers.
