On all four two sides of the main body of the vase there are large relief mums with stems of Hirado blue leaves. $225.00

This small porcelain vase was made from grayish white porcelain. It is unusually shaped with flared top and ridged sides. The vase measures 3 ½” high by 1 3/8” wide by 1” thick. We are not sure what its use might have been. It is too small to have been used as a bud vase – and it would be a most unusual shape for a scholar’s desk water dropper. Perhaps it once had a stopper and might have been either a perfume bottle or a medicine bottle. We date it to the late Qing dynasty, circa 1850 – 1890s. ...click for details

SOLD - $495.00

This striking wooden carving clearly has some real age to it. We date it to sometime between the Wanli period (1573-1619) to Qianlong period (1736-1795). As can be readily seen from the photos the wooden carving of a fierce looking guard has had plenty of wear – much of the gesso and paint has worn off – the hands are missing and the face, toes and top knot have all been re-glued at some time in the far distant past. Yet it still has a dynamic appearance that is quite appealing – and it still s ...click for details
