This is a fine Oribe summer tea bowl - chawan - with the classic thick green glaze dripping over the sides of the bowl. The bowl is made of a light tan crackle finish glaze and has underglaze designs made with iron ink. There are what appear to be three Kanji characters on one side of the chawan – not translated.

This is an extremely fine Hirado vase from the Golden Age of Hirado porcelain, Meiji period, circa 1880s-1900. It has a beautiful underglaze blue design of clumps of pine trees in clouds or fog – then the design is enhanced with four applied relief chrysanthemums. On all four two sides of the main body of the vase there are large relief mums with stems of Hirado blue leaves. The vase measures 9 ¼” high – 5” diameter at widest - 2 ¼” diameter at the top and 2 7/8” diameter at the base. ...click for details

This rare and fine Komai bud vase has a design of two monkeys under a tree examining a leaf held by the standing monkey. The detailing is as fine as you will see. The face, hands and feet are copper inlay and the fur of the monkeys is pure gold with every single hair clearly shown. It is signed on the front and on the back with Komai's mark. This fine carved wooden okimono is of the Buddha known as the Shaka Nyorai – or in Japan he is known as Sakyamuni.He is shown standing on a on a two-layered lotus pedestal atop a hexagonal base . The Buddha wears a flowing monastic robe clinging to his form, Buddha wears a joyful smile on his face. Behind the figure of the Buddha is a rosewood colored mandorla carved with stylized clouds. This is a charming small Japanese teapot executed in the rare cloisonné technique know as Totai. The teapot has and offset handle at the side of the teapot rather than the normal placement of the handle at a 180 degree position opposite the teapot’s spout. The teapot is decorated with a two reserves of flowers on the sides and the lid and areas surrounding the floral reserves have a combination of flowers and geometric nishidike design.
