An extremely charming and detailed painting of five young Chinese children at play decorates this finely potted porcelain wrist wrest for the scholar's desk. One of the children even appears to be playfully pulling on his friend’s pigtail. Painted in the Famille Rose palette, this exquisite accessory to a scholars desk would make a fine accompaniment to any modern desk. It is quite easy to find small stands in this shape in wood - they are used to stabilize and hold up small vases and round bottomed objects. On the other hand, this is one of the few metal stands we have come across. This one is Chinese in origin and is made of an alloy of copper and bronze. There is a mark inlaid in silver on the top - the mark stands for Double Happiness. The stand measures 1" high and is 3 1/4" diameter. The base has cut outs in the shape of clouds. It would make a ...click for details
