This is a stunningly beautiful modern Japanese guinomi (Sake cup) glazed in a brilliant blue crackle finish shading to turquoise color. The footed cup measures 3 ¼” diameter at the top and stands 1 ½ “high. There is an impressed signature in the center of the foot which we have been unable to translate. The piece is in mint condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. Dates from the 1990s.
A Modern Japanese pottery chawan (tea bowl) with a fine hares fur glaze. The chawan measures 3” diameter at the top and is 1 ¼” high. It is signed on the base with an impressed mark that translates as "Kou" one letter from the artist’s name. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
This lovely black and brown temoku vase by Wright was wheel-thrown in two pieces and joined together, the resulting seam easily felt on the interior of the vase. This process of joining two pieces of a pot is known as luting. The word "luting" implies the use of a moldable substance to seal a space or to cement two components together. The temoku glaze is a classic combination of deep black and brown with deep red brush strokes breaking through. The vase measures 71/8” high and is 6” ...click for details
