A lovely Satsuma mukozuke with an off center design of orange flowers and green leaves in soft pastel colors and two gosu blue butterflies flitting overhead. The dish has the characteristic pale tan crackle glaze of Satsuma. On the bottom rim there is are two designs in gosu blue of stylized vines with a bright orange and yellow flower in the middle of the two scrolls. The dish is signed in raised gold lacquer and has the cross in a circle that is the sign of the Shimazu clan the blue color was reserved for their use. The lacquer kanji characters translate as Satsuma. The dish measures 4 Ύ diameter by 1 high at the rim by 2 7/8 diameter at the base. It is in excellent condition.
