Kakieimon bowl with a molded swirl pattern shape - persimmon and cherry branch decorations on inner sides – a small ho-o bird (phoenix) en cavetto. A wonderfully loose and spare wabi sabi décor on outer sides that was so typical of the kakiemon style. Measures 4 7/8” diameter x 2 ¼” high – excellent condition – no chips, hairlines, restorations. We date this one to mid to late Meiji period based on the delicacy, the thinness of the bowl and the shade of blue (which is a bit brighter and darker than that used in earlier kakiemon pieces).
