A Fine Japanese Komai Dish with Tiger Family
Extraordinary Japanese Komai dish with decoration of two tigers with cub. The metals are gold, silver, copper with the gold shading from a coppery color to a yellow gold. The detailing is as fine as you will see. The noses are copper, claws are silver, silver used for shading on face and underneath. It is signed on the front and on the back with Komai's mark. This large dish measures 8 3/8" in diameter. The condition is very good with the exception of a missing foot on bottom. You can see two pinholes on surface where it is missing - it is still an outstanding piece. Dates from the Meiji period, circa 1880-1900.
