| A very rare early Peking Glass vase with three layers of multi colored glass and facets. The underlying base color is a dark, almost cobalt blue glass. The next layer in a lighter blue glass. Then the top layer is a pale sky blue color into which streaks of yellow glass have been swirled into streaky striations. The maker then cut facetted patterns into the shoulder and in another group just below the shoulder of the vase. The overall effect is quite stunning - absolutely the only example of its kind that we have ever come across in Peking Glass. The piece was obtained some years ago from a superb collection in Victoria Island, British Columbia. The vase measures 5 3/4" high by 3 1/2" diameter at the shoulder and is 1 1/8" diameter at thetop opening and 1 1/2" diameter at the base. The vase dates from the Qing Dynasty, early to mid 19th century, and is in top notch condition with no chips or problems whatsoever. | ||||||||||||||
