| A very fine Japanese cloisonne lidded tea caddy - natsume - done in the cloisonne on porcelain technique known as Totai. Floral decoration on the sides - a wonderful ho-o bird (phoenix) on the lid. Six character mark on base - I have been informed by a British expert on totai that the signature mark is that of 'Kanzan' (Kanzan Denshichi). Dates to mid Meiji period, ca. 1880's. Excellent condition except for a chip on the inner rim of the lower body - see extreme closeup for the chip. Measures 2 1/2" high and 2 1/2" diameter. | ||||||||
