| A wonderful late Edo Period Seto ware Mingei dish in the classic "Horse's Eye" pattern - shown in all the books on Japanese pottery, ca. 1800. This beauty measures 10 1/4" in diameter and is 2 1/4" deep. As is usually the case, there is a nick on the rim - see photo - but that does not detract from the simple beauty of the design. Multiple spur marks on the inside of the bowl indicate the dish was glazed and then placed in the kiln upside down to fire it. Fine addition to a collection of early Japanese pottery. | ||||||||
