| Japanese Square Satsuma Kogo (covered box) with a raised gold design of a phoenix surrounded with red flowers and gosu blue highlights. The sides have a geometric nishidike brocade design in gosu blue with turquoise flowers. The kogo is signed in raised gold letters that translate to “Jusho ga” – made by Jusho. At the top of the signature is the classic gosu blue mark of Satsuma - a cross in a circle - that was reserved for the finest works of Satsuma. Dates from the golden age of Satsuma, circa 1880-1910. Measures 3/8" high by 3 3/4" square excellent condition. | |||||||||||
