| A small rice bowl done in underglaze cobalt blue under a pure white glaze. The design is that of three scholars strolling and talking - each holding a scroll. The base is plain white glaze - no marks or restorations. We have debated back and forth as to whether the design was executed free hand or was a transfer design. To be on the conservative side, we will say that it is a transfer design and that it dates from the late Qing Dynasty, circa 1880 - 1910. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. The piece measures 4 1/2" at the top and is 2 3/8" high at the rim - the base measures 2" in diameter. | ||||||||
