| This is a striking Kutani studio plate by the well-known Hagi potter Tamura Shogetsu. The design is executed in thick overglaze enamel over a finely grained crackle white base and depicts five large gold and orange daffodils with there bright green leaves. The edge of the plate has a brown enamel rim in the same thick enamel. The rim is slightly scalloped and divides the edge into nine segments. The plate measures 10” diameter and is 1 ½” deep. There is a red potters signature on the foot that translates as "Kutani Shogetsu". It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. We date it to the mid to later 20th century, Showa Period, circa 1945-1975. | ||||||||||||
