| A great example of Japanese metalwork craftsmanship. Used in the tea ceremony, the teaburi was meant for guest to warm their hands. Coals were placed in the container and heat emanated up through the pierced lid. Great traditional Japanese design of waves, tsunami & the sun is peeking out. Other than a little ding to the lid this piece is in excellent condition. Measures about 4.5" tall and approx 6.5" diameter. Based on the patina, we would date this item from the late Meiji to Taisho period - circa 1900-1925. | ||||||
