This is a very handsome stoneware pottery cooking pot with a handle on the side. It was made by the Winchcombe Pottery and is by Sidney Tustin. It is not a tea-pot, but a small cooking pot.
Winchcombe Pottery was, and is, in Gloucestershire and was started by the well-known potter Michael Cardew. Tustin and the Finch brothers (from memory) were his best-known assistants. The covered pot is glazed in a simple tan glaze with light brown speckles throughout. The pot measures 4” diameter exclusive of the handle and is 3 ½” high. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. We date it to the 1925-1940.
