A Fine Japanese Coral Figural Snuff Bottle
Sold

A rare Japanese figural coral snuff bottle well carved as a heavenly maiden, the head serving as the stopper, the base carved with feet, the figure with elaborate robes and holding a parrot. 6.7 cm tall. Mid 20th Century.

Provenance:
Weisfield Collection #58

Illustrated:
"Precious Little Things," Jadestone, 2008

Reference/Notes:
*This figural type of snuff bottle was commercially produced in Japan during the early to mid 20th Century in ivory and in an even more commercial manner, resin. It is rare to find such a well carved example in a more precious material such as coral.
