| 18th Century American Queen Anne/Chippendale High Chest, in pine, having a "bread board" framed top with under beaded crown molding, above five beaded, graduated drawers, each with two brass oval knob pulls. The top drawer also has a simple batwing escutcheon, applied with rosehead nails. The fourth drawer has small Chippendale style brass escutcheon. Sides are single plank, and back is two horizontal planks, attached with rosehead nails, and has remnants of old blue and old red paint. The case is mounted on a plinth base with beaded molding, bracket feet, and a scalloped apron in the front. Probably Pennsylvania provenance. Refinished. Brasses, except for top excutcheon, have been replaced with hand-made period reproductions. Dimensions are 49 1/2" tall x 18" deep x 38 3/8" wide. Circa 1760. | ||
