| Set of four matching Hitchcock-style, caned side chairs in maple and curly maple, having a crest rail scrolled in the center and flanked by extended ring turning. Below the crest rail is a wide,shaped cross rail. The stiles are shaved on the front and have ring scribing below. The caned seat is flared and scrolled at the front. The front stretcher has a central ball with flanking tapered ring turning. Plain cylindrical stretchers are on each side of the legs, and one is in the rear. Dimensions of the seats are 17" wide x 16" deep x 17 1/2" tall. Refinished. Circa 1830-50. | |||||
