| German porcelain figure grouping with shepherd and two goats. Made by A. W. Krister in Scheibe-Alsbach, Germany; dating is c. 1900-1972. A shepherd is seated with his back against a small tree, between two white and black colored recumbent goats, upon a large flat oval shaped plinth molded around the edge with a gilded trail of blossoms and stems. The shepherd wears a short brimmed black hat with a pink and yellow colored feather, a light pink colored shirt beneath a dark blue vest, orange colored cape, and black pants rolled up over the knees. He has a brown leather satchel strapped around his chest, and holds a wooden crook upright on the ground with his left hand. The bottom surface has several markings including shape and design numbers, and a dark blue underglaze maker mark composed of a flattened "X" centered over the letter "S" which has a curled tail. Similar maker marks are shown as #2412-2415 in Rontgen's "Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain, 1710 to the Present." Measures 5.75" tall, 5 3/8" long and 3 5/8" wide. | ||||||
