A beautifully mottled dark and light green jade carved bird form pendent. This piece is so similar to #47 in "Between Continents/Between Seas: Precolumbian Art of Costa Rica, that they may be by the same hand. The central crest on the larger mace [#47] is another bird and this one is probably a more stylized version. Seated woman legs outstreached and holding a bundle or stack of something on her lap and atop the stack are some type of implements. She is highly adorned with multi layered wrist bands and necklace, she has double ball nose plugs, long dangle ear rings and huge side head flaps, themselves highly adorned. She wears a skirt which has some minor losses, her right side head flap and arm have been reattached. Color remains. 6 1/4" high Ecuador Jamacoaque 200-600 AD

A very high quality, very highly burnished overall female figure in a seated position with crossed legs and her feet protruding from under her long dress, her hands resting on her knees. She is adorned with double necklaces, multiple ear rings and nose and chin plugs. Her head is covered with a tight fitting wrap, nice remains of green pigment. Intact. 61/4" high. A very unusual vessel in the form of conjoined twin coatimundi, attached at the back, they seem to be sleeping with their paws at rest on either side of the snouts. Highly burnished all over, even the bottom, a beautiful orangey color, beautiful surface. One tail reattached and a rim repair, restored over the breaks, a couple of nicks; the undersides of a paw and a snout. 6 1/4" X 6 3/4" Ecuador Chorrera 1500-500 BC

Standing lady wearing only a large white necklace, extremely large ear loops, she wears her hair long and parted in the middle. Some white pigment remains in the eyes and on the necklace. Wearing a loin cloth and elaborately adorned with nipple rings, a large and multi layered necklace and matching ear rings both with strong green color. A highly burnished figure with incised designs overall. Incised areas to indicate body painting, adornments and a headdress. The figure is only wearing a loin cloth, which is painted red. The other interesting aspect of this figure is the original gold and spondylus ear ring that remains on the right ear, the nose and other ear are pierced for the same, but those are missing, as is the usual. A very beautiful curled up dog almost in a "art deco" style. The very modern look has slit eyes with the bottom of its chin resting on its rear end and a large pouring spout protruding from the middle of the body, feet are indicated by small round bumps.
