A fine and very rare 19th century Chinese Clair-de-Lune glazed scholar's porcelain water pot, the apple-form vessel perfectly potted with tapering bulbous body, covered inside and out with a fine pale blue glaze, the gently concaved base glazed white and neatly inscribed with the Kangxi reign mark in underglazed-blue. (Wooden stand not included) REFERENCE : Compare a Kangxi mark and period with similar Clair-de-Lune glazed scholar's brush washer from the Baur collection (see last image).
DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th Century.
MARK : underglazed-blue six-character Kangxi mark on base.
SIZE : approximately 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) high; 4" (10 cm) maximum diameter.
CONDITION : in perfect condition with appropriate glaze wear; a small spot of production fault to the side of body only. No chips, no cracks, and no repairs.
