Fine Rare Chinese Jiaqing Mark & Period Blue White Tray

A fine and extremely rare of 18th / early 19th century Chinese Jiaqing mark and period blue and white porcelain tray, the square form tray well potted and finely painted to the center with two large carp fish, the outside borders with indented corners and decorated with scrollwork, the underside with four small bracket feet, covered allover in a white glaze with very pale bluish-tinged, the spur-marked base inscribed with the Jiaqing reign mark and of the period.

REFERENCE : A blue and white porcelain tray of rectangular form and bearing a similarly written Jiaqing four-character mark and of the period, was included in S. Marchant & Son, London, Exhibition of 19th Century Mark & Period Porcelain, where it was noted [Their relatively heavy potting and free decoration were much appreciated by the Japanese and in spite of their bearing Imperial reign marks, these pieces may reasonably be assumed also to have been made for the tea ceremony.] (See last image)

DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, mark and period of Jiaqing (1796 1820).

MARK : underglazed-blue four-character Jiaqing "kaishu" mark on base.

SIZE : approximately 6" (15.5 cm) square.

CONDITION : in perfect condition with normal glaze wear; just a few tiny production imperfections and glaze frits around the edges noted for accuracy only. No damage and no repair of any kind noted.

SHIPPING : Inclusive.
