A very rare 19th century Chinese Duan Ink-Stone with Covered Wood Box, the circular stone in the form of a prunus flower with shaped rim, carved to the front with a large five character mark, the reverse with a finely carved long inscription ended with the Yongzheng reign mark and carver's name, and a two character mark in seal script in below. The covered box is most likely original, is of very good quality hard wood, the cover finely carved in the form of a flower petal, in very attractive dark-brown color.

DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th Century.

MARK : carved Yongzheng mark & artist name on the base of the ink-stone.

SIZE : the ink-stone approximately 6 1/4" (16 cm) diameter.

CONDITION : the ink-stone in excellent condition with small irregularities on the front, the wooden box with a long age split repaired to the cover, the base with rim chips repaired and minor age splits. No further damage or repairs.
