Fine Qianlong Mark & Period Imperial Yellow Enamel Dish

A very fine and rare 18th century antique Chinese Imperial-Yellow Ground Painted Enamel Dish, decorated to the center with a large 'shou' symbol in blue enamel within a band of pink peonies with scrolling leaves in shades of green, the cavetto with similar floral scrolls with four evenly divided character roundels in seal script reading 'Wan Shou Wu Jiang', below a band of key-fret pattern around the rim, exterior of the dish with similar decoration, the top and base rim gilded, the base enameled white and inscribed with the Qianlong reign mark.

NOTE : The term 'Wan Shou Wu Jiang' meaning happiness without end, was a popular Chinese phrase used in birthday celebration for elder members or hierarchy.

REFERENCE : An identical Qianlong mark and period painted enamel dish, but larger in size, was included in Christies Hong Kong Sale, October 2002 (see last image).

DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, mark and period of Qianlong (1736 - 1795).

MARK : blue enameled six-character seal mark of Qianlong on base.

SIZE : approximately 1" (2.5 cm) high, 5 3/8" (13.5 cm) diameter.

CONDITION : perfect condition with very small gilding wear only. No chips, no cracks, and no repairs.
