A rare early 17th century antique Chinese porcelain 'wucai' jar, the body painted with four underglazed-blue shaped cartouches with children at play and flowering branches enameled in green, red and yellow, surrounded with smaller 'ruyi' heads and iron-red diapered ground, a band of floral scroll between blue-bandings around the shoulder. NOTE : The term 'wucai' literally means five-colors.
DATE : Chinese, Transitional period, circa 1640.
MARK : no base mark or signature.
SIZE : approximately 6" high.
CONDITION : very good condition with expected enamel wear, a small rim hairline, and numerous small production glaze burst in-filled, small old chips inside foot rim. No other damages or repairs.
