A very fine and rare large 19th century Chinese carved and pierced ivory brush pot / vase, the ivory tusk exquisitely carved and pierced in high relief allover with four dragons amongst cloud-scrolls against an intricately pierced background, a leaping carp above breaking waves below a gate carved and incised with Chinese characters, the ivory aged and mellowed to a warm yellowish tone, and fixed (probably at a later date) onto a finely carved original reticulated wooden stand.

DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th Century.

MARK : character marks incorporated in carving (see photos).

SIZE : approximately 10" (25.5 cm) high.

CONDITION : both the ivory and wood stand are in perfect condition, one very minor age line to the top rim of vase noted for accuracy only. No chips, no cracks or any damages, and no repairs.
