A very fine and superb 19th century Chinese blue and white porcelain vase and cover, the large size baluster shape vase well potted and exquisitely painted in the Kangxi manner with the "eight-Buddhist Emblems" amongst densely decorated lotus scrolls, the neck decorated with the ribbon-tied "four-accomplishments" motif, the original domed cover with a large knob finial and similarly decorated, the base glazed white and inscribed with the six-character Kangxi reign mark. NOTE : The decoration on the present vase is superbly painted in strong two-toned cobalt-blue and displays a well executed and highly skill workmanship, although the lid was made separately and shows a slightly deeper blue tone, it is nevertheless original to the vase and not a "marriage". It is very rare to find a vase of this size and quality, complete with the original lid and in such immaculate condition, it is arguably, one of the best 19th century blue and white vases one could possibly find.
PROVENANCE : Old English Collection.
