A pair of Bira Bira Kanzashi, a dangling hair ornament from the 1930s. It came from Nigata prefecture, in the northern part of Japan. It is typically worn as adornment by Hanayome, a bride , so it is decorated with many auspicious motifs. There are a Mino-kame, straw raincoat turtle with Tsuru, crane which motif are used most at weddings as husband and wife. This is a fine Maiko Isho Ningyo , costume doll from Kyoto in the Meiji period (1868-1912) .
Her elegant kimono is made of Chirimen, crepe cloth, collars are decorated with fine embroideries and her Obidome (ornament for kimono belt) has nice carvings of flower in metal.
Her Nihongami, traditional hair style has shibori, tie dyed , chirimen ,Tsumami kanzashi, silk fabrics folded into flowers, and a Bira- bira kanzashi , dangling hair accessory.

This is a set of copperplate print book " Koueki Moncho Daizen " , books of family crests design vol. 1,2 and 3 dated Meiji 45 (1912 ).
Vol. 1 has 49 pages including index, Vol.2 has 32 and Vol. 3 has 24 pages. There are various Kamon,family crest patterns and has Genjiko, forms used at incense ceremony , and instructions of how to design the family crest. Every kamon has names , so it is easy to identify what they are.
