Age: Edo Period Remarks: This Kabuto was handcrafted and signed by Myochin Yoshimichi. This is a very heavy piece that has been wonderfully crafted by a master smith. An extremely rare example of a graded smith.Yoshimichi ranks near the top of all Myochin school smiths. The crests are original to the fukegaeshi and exhibit a wonderful 3-dimensional look. Etched shinodare compliment this piece very nicely. The celebrated Myochin family has been producing some of the finest quality armors since the 11th century. When the early Myochin ancestors presented their armor to the Emperor Konoe (1141-54), the Emperor was so impressed with their work that he called them "Myochin" and granted it to them as their family name.
