The chest has six beautifully burled drawers, and an additional glove drawer centered on the top. Chests such as this one, with the drawer on top, are very rare. There is a hinged narrow panel on the right side of the chest that would lock all of the drawers at once, thus securing the contents from the servants.

It is constructed of solid walnut with burl walnut panel on drawer fronts; portions of the pulls have been replaced.

Condition: Excellent

Finish: Top surface refinished. The balance of the chest is a cleaned original with an overcoat.
