| A standing figure of a Taoist deity or demon trembling upon a snake. Wood with several layers of lacquer over paper, 19th or possibly 18th C. Height: 38cm. The figure is holding a cup in one hand, the attribute that he was holding in the other hand is missing. Condition: the statue is complete without any missing parts except for the attribute in the right hand and a small section of the tail of the snake. The arm holding the cup is broken and secured with a wooden peg. Loose layers of lacquer and paper, especially at the back, displaying older layers. The cavity at the back is empty. | ||||||||||||||
