Here is something you won’t see very often. Found this incredible painted Coyote skull on an estate sale in 1995.Was told that this art piece was in the family for about 50 years. Artist is unknown, put it was purchased at the Navajo reservation, so I assume that the artist was Navajo. Look at the detailed painting of an Indian head and an Elk head and lots of other detailed symbols. It comes in a hand made wooden box that is lined with red fabric.

Paul Vigil (b.1932) is a member of the Tesuque Pueblo tribe, located near Santa Fe, New Mexico. He worked as a carpenter on the Navajo reservation before bringing his family home to the Tesuque Pueblo to re-establish a connection with the Pueblo traditions and the art he excelled in as a teenager. His watercolors of traditional Tewa dancers delineate the clothing and accessories with delicate brushwork, and his work feature geometric designs symbolic of corn, water, or Pueblo architecture.

Virgil is the heir-apparent of the traditional Pueblo Dancer painters. This miniature Corn Dancer watercolor was painted in 2001. Matted size is 2 inches by 2 1/2 inches; watercolor painting is 1 7/16 inches by 1 inch.
