This is a three hanko ( 3 signatures ) flute possibly made by or the property of Miyaguchi Taido a well known shakuhachi player before WWII. It has some stable cracks and the joint ( nakatsugi ) is ugly, but secure. The flute plays well with a sweet kinko sound. Old flute tone and tuning ( chi is sharp ) but not hard to adjust to play in pitch. 1.8 length.

$1845.00 On hold

This is a really beautiful sculptural work of tribal art. Rare and finely carved using stone and shell ( shell scraping evident on the nicely patinated surface ). Reminds me of the woodland Native American carved burl bird bowls. Figural work from Santa Cruise is rare, and I have only seen two other examples of figural bowls. They are more common from the Admiralty Islands of Papua New Guinea. This great piece is about 14.1" long by about 4.3 by 4.1". No repair or restoration. ...click for details
