I have owned this piece for 20 years. I bought it early in my collecting of tribal art because I admired the rich patina and obvious age as well as the finely carved stupa. These are used as a part of the handle to churn yak milk into butter for preservation. From Nepal or Tibet most likely. These older piece used to be abundant, but have now been replaced by newly carved tourist items made to look old. I am selling this for what I bought it for!
