Kato Takeshi ( also known as Kato Ken ) is a fast rising star in the world of yakimono ( Japanese ceramics ). He is influenced by Kato Kozo. This is a traditionally wood fired chawan with good clay and a rich underpainted glaze that shows the fingermarks of the artist when he held it and dipped it in the glaze. Very nice traditional Shino bowl. Great foot too. Dai ichi arts had a chawan up for sale a few years ago for $1650, and it was not as nice as this one! This is a beautiful Kuro-raku ( black ) with a fine red highlight, nice tong marks and a fine kod ...click for details
