Obayashi Gozan Japanese pottery raku chawan cha no yu
It is my understanding that Obayashi Gozan was the brother of the 13th or 14th Raku master, I think he married a Chinese woman and was pretty much banished to China for a while, later to return to Japan. Before this he made pottery, and since he was the elder brother, was in training to become the Raku master himself. If you know any more about him, please let me know and I will include it here. This is a beautiful Kuro-raku ( black ) with a fine red highlight, nice tong marks and a fine kodai or foot. About 4.5" in diameter, excellent condition, signed box.
