| This one is a stunner. I have had it in my private collection for 15 years, and I still love it but economics force me to sell it. Size 6 1/2, no hallmarks, but I have been told by Sotheby's in 1998 that it is probably Italian, French, or other continental European. The gems are a diamond in the head of approximately 1/3 carat about G color and SI 1 an old european cut, a Ceylon sapphire in the mouth about .25 ct, beautiful dark blue, garnet eyes, two small rubies in the head and three small ( .05 ct ) rose cut diamonds in the tail. This ring is amazingly detailed, note all of the hand chasing, granulation and other work. It is really a top piece and I have always been surprised that it was not signed ( though it could have been, there is some moderate wear and a small hallmark might have worn off ). From circa 1890 the height of the art nouveau era. I paid about $3900 for this one and had to bargain hard to get it to that point, however, I have no idea how to price this, so I would welcome reasonable offers. | ||
